Leveret Estate Reserve Hawke’s Bay Merlot Cabernet

Vintage 2016

Enticing aromas of dark forest berries, coffee and bramble with a herbal lift. The palate shows a seamless balance of fruit weight and tannins.  The lengthy finish has notes of chocolate and leather.

2016 Vintage

“Still youthful, the 2016 vintage was matured for two years in French oak casks (20 per cent new). A deeply coloured, mouthfilling red, it has fresh, concentrated blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, finely structured and sustained. Best drinking 2022+”

2015 Vintage

“This full-bodied, youthful, single-vineyard red was grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle and barrel-aged for 18 months. Deeply coloured, it has generous, ripe, plummy, spicy flavours, woven with fresh acidity, and gentle tannins. Best drinking 2020+.”

2014 Vintage

“A fruit-driven cabernet merlot to enjoy with veal saltimbocca. It offers appetising jube and blackcurrant pastille aromas, seasoned appropriately by cedary oak. The palate has medium intensity, sustained flavour and appealing juiciness, backed up by ripe tannins.”

“The 2014 vintage (4*) was matured for a year in barrels (20 per cent new). Fragrant and deeply coloured, it is fresh and sweet-fruited, with concentrated blackcurrant, plum, spice and dried-herb flavours, and gentle tannins. It’s already drinking well.”
