The old mill depicted on the Mill Road label was established in the 1870’s near the banks of the Ngaruroro River. Situated just ten kilometers north of Te Mata Peak, Mill Road captures the essence of Hawke’s Bay. Famous for warm sunny days and clean fresh air the grapes are large and succulent, making for a delicious wine range.
Enquire NowDeep red and rich in complexity. Dark fruits, spicy oak and forest floor aromas. Red fruits and dusty tannins on the palate lead to a long and generous finish.
This wine is from grapes grown in three of our Hawkes Bay vineyards – Tantallon, Riverview and Kinross.
The parcels of grapes were machine harvested in the Hawke’s Bay and transported to our Riverview winery for processing. In each case the fruit was crushed into open top fermenters and inoculated with a range of yeast strains. The vessels were hand plunged several times per day until fermentation was complete. The wine was then pressed off the skins and a portion was put to barrel; the rest to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. The resulting wine was then transported by road tanker to our Katikati winery where it was finished and then bottled in October 2019.
