Inspired by the neighbouring Pacific Islands, this wine range compliments the abundance of fresh fruit and fish the islands are famous for.
The label features a Nikau Palm which is endemic to New Zealand.
Ripe dark fruits, blackberries and cassis, subtle nutty oak and a slight earthiness add complexity. The palate shows fine grained tannins that provide structure and length to the fruit flavours.
This wine is from grapes grown in two of our Hawke’s Bay vineyards - Tantallon and Campbell Brook. The grapes were harvested from the Tantallon and Campbell Brook vineyards and transported to our Riverview winery were they were crushed to open topped stainless steel fermentation vessels and inoculated with a range of yeast strains. The ferments were hand plunged several times per day until dry and then allowed from 2 to 14 days extended maceration. The wine was then pressed off the skins and put to barrel where it was aged for 18 months before blending. The wine was then transported by road tanker to our Katikati winery for final blending and finishing.
