The Riverview vines are grown on the stony silt gravels laid down over the centuries by the shifting currents of the Ngaruroro River. Not only are these soils free draining and low yielding soils, they retain the heat of the day which allows these soils to produce excellent Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot fruit from this cool climate.
Enquire NowComplex and alluring, this wine has aromas of gunflint, ripe stone fruit and toasty oak. The palate is concentrated with a minerality and texture that reflects the site, and a spicy citrus spine that leads to a lovely long finish.
The grapes for this wine were sourced from our Riverview vineyard. The free draining shingle plains and inland site produces exceptional chardonnay with pure fruit flavours and intense minerality.
A combination of machine harvested and handpicked fruit was taken to our Riverview winery where it was pressed off to tank. The juice was inoculated and run off to barrel or barrelled down and left to ferment naturally. The wine spent at least 12 months in new and old oak. Approximately 80% of the wine was subject to malolactic fermentation. Following barrel maturation, the wine was tankered to our Katikati winery for final finishing and bottling. The wine was
bottled in September 2018.
