Nikau Point Reserve Marlborough Pinot Noir

NP Resv ML Pinot Noir_clear

Vintage 2019

This wine is a bright ruby red. Complex aromas of stewed plums and dark cherry with spicy oak. On the palate cherry and plum are supported by silky smooth tannins. The finish is long and delicious.

“Cherry, black tea and attractive spices, alongside red fruits, raspberry and soft plummy characters make this an incredibly drinkable, excitingly affordable pinot noir.
A recent makeover of the label has given this extra table-appeal. It looks like money. It tastes like money. But it won’t cost you much money.”
– Yvonne Lorkin, NZ Herald, 21 May 2016

“Moderately deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on edge.  The nose is fresh with bright primary aromas of dark raspberries, dark plums and red liquorice, the fruit ripe and attractively uncomplicated.  Medium-bodied, soft, rounded and up-front juicy flavours of raspberries are the feature on the palate.  The fruit is supported by grainy tannins which provide a chalky, underlying texture, and a hint of minerally reduction is revealed in the glass.  The fruit recedes on the finish, leaving a light, dry, fine textures.  This is an up-front, sweet and juicy, raspberry flavoured Pinot Noir with a fine, dry finish.  Serve with poultry and pork over the next 3+ years.  Marlborough fruit fermented to 12.9% alc., the wine seeing light oaking.”

“This is good value Pinot Noir. It displays dark cherry and raspberry aromas and flavours as well as nuances of cigar and herbs. The tannins are neatly integrated and balanced thereby creating a juicy mouthful.”

“An honest and straightforward wine under the Nikau Point label, but hailing from Marlborough. Berry and cherry flavour, with medium-light body. No complaints at all.”
