Have Some Bubbles With Your Bunnies This Easter!

Our Top Wine Choices for Easter

Easter is definitely the time for sparkling wines, although our premium Leveret range is also one that hops off the shelves at this time of year. Leveret, French for little hare, showcases three hares on the logo, representing the interconnectivity of our vineyards, winemaking and distribution. This speaks to how we control every aspect of our winemaking, from the grape to the glass, which means we can ensure its quality.

Here are some of our top méthode traditionnelle wines, which will be perfect for your Easter celebrations.

Our trophy-winning Leveret IQ Premium Brut, with aromas of freshly baked bread, wild mushrooms and marzipan is a popular bubbles option. It has a citrus and stone fruit base, and the palate is amazingly fresh, with a gentle effervescence and long textural finish. It’s also incredible value at $21.99 a bottle, such a good deal, you should consider a case. Remember, we offer free shipping on orders over $200.

The Mills Reef Elspeth Méthode Traditionnelle NV exudes a delightful array of fresh apricot, cashew, honey and freshly baked bread aromas. The palate is wonderfully creamy with softly rounded acidity and the delicate fruit sweetness of marmalade and vanilla wine biscuit. This is intertwined with a fine mousse and delicious breadiness, culminating in a satisfyingly persistent off-dry honeyed finish.

Crowd Pleaser

Our Leveret Grand Reserve Méthode Traditionnelle Magnum (1.5 litres) is a showstopper. With its hare emblem and generous size it can’t help but make a statement at the Easter brunch table. Savour aromas of vanilla, almond and strawberry, with a shortcake, biscuity base. The palate is balanced with fantastic length and poise. The mousse provides a mouth-filling creamy texture, while stonefruit and citrus characters are intertwined with a nutty complexity and marmalade flavours resulting from the wine’s careful aging.

A quick note on the term, méthode traditionnelle. This is the process used in the Champagne region of France to produce Champagne and we are one of the original méthode traditionnelle houses of New Zealand. We often take the old and the new and innovate, but we also don’t fix what’s not broken and so we adopted this labour-intensive, but rewarding method to bring our wine drinkers a line of refined, high-quality sparkles. Enjoy!
