The Arthur Edmund range is the most lauded and exclusive red wine in our award-winning Leveret & Mills Reef portfolio and stands alongside the iconic Coniglio. So, it’s with great excitement that our Chief Winemaker, who has controlled every aspect of its production, announces the release of the Arthur Edmund Cabernet Merlot 2020 and Arthur Edmund Syrah 2020. These prestigious wines are limited releases with only a few hundred bottles, each labelled and individually numbered. Now available! Wine connoisseurs will have to be quick to pick up one of these rare bottles.

Mills Reef Reserve Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Merlot 2020
A rich full-bodied wine, this traditional blend exudes intense blackcurrant, blackberry and plum flavours, layered with mocha, cassis and spicy cedary oak. Ageing in quality oak has conferred a velvety smooth texture, providing the blend with great structure and length.

Our Chief Winemaker, Paul Dawick, suggests serving this rich wine with something off the BBQ, although he’s partial to opting for the warming spices of a Moroccan lamb loin with a tabbouleh salad on the side.
Leveret Estate Hawke’s Bay Rosé 2022
It’s pale pink in colour with aromas of red fruits, watermelon and rose petals. The palate is dry with a hint of spice.

“In the middle of winter rosé is not always front of mind, however, this versatile tipple covers all the bases to satisfy the palate on those cold winter evenings. Our latest release gives you strawberries and cream, with red melon and rose hip scents flowing into a lush, fresh palate with a satin smooth texture. Although it pairs well with a range of cuisines, I would recommend serving it with a platter of soft cheeses or a seafood pizza.” – Cam Duke, Katikati Winemaker
Since 2008, a range of twelve red wines have been independently selected to represent Gimblett Gravels. Members are invited to submit wines for consideration and these are then blind tasted by an independent selector of standing.
This year, 42 wines were blind tasted by Andrew Caillard MW, who rated and provided tasting notes for each wine, and although we didn’t rank in the coveted top twelve this year, we’re still thrilled to receive very high ratings for three of our Mills Reef wines.
Our award-winning Mills Reef Elspeth Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2018 couldn’t be more perfect for lingering at the table on stormy nights.
This superb Syrah, from an exceptional vintage, brims with intense flavour and complexity. Displaying flavours of luscious boysenberry, white pepper spice and liquorice, on a beautifully integrated and refined palate. Eminently drinkable now, it will also greatly reward cellaring for longer-term enjoyment.

94 POINTS, 5 STARS
“Complex and enticing with blackberry, vanillin oak, violet and toasted spice notes, it’s concentrated and generous with fleshy texture and plenty of fine-grained tannins. Beautifully layered with ripe fruit intensity and spicy/savoury nuances, it’s engaging and deliciously long.” – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
