Leveret Estate Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2020

$21.99$125.34 inc GST

The Leveret brand is a descendant of the award-winning Coniglio range. The word “leveret” means young hare, three of which can be found dancing on the bottle’s label. The ears of the hares connect creating a triangular symbol that was used by the tin merchants of Devon, traders on the Silk Road.

With it’s own sense of history, and coming from an up-standing family, we’re excited to present a premium and reserve option for the Leveret brand.

A fantastic example of Hawkes Bay Syrah with a floral nose of iris and lavender with fresh juicy red summer berries and well-integrated oak, giving aromas of vanilla and smoke. A well-balanced palate with Black Doris plum and fig. Tannins are spicy giving great length and structure.

This wine is entirely from grapes grown in our Tantallon Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay.

The grapes were harvested from the Tantallon vineyard and transported to our Riverview winery where they were crushed to open topped stainless steel fermentation vessels and inoculated using predominantly the RX60 yeast strain. The ferments were hand plunged several times per day until dry and then allowed from 2 to 14 days extended maceration. The wine was then pressed off the skins and put to barrel where it was aged for 12 months before blending. The wine was then transported by road tanker to our Katikati winery for final blending and finishing. Bottling was in November 2021.
