Leveret Reserve Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2021

$29.99$170.94 inc GST

The Leveret brand is a descendant of the award-winning Coniglio range. The word “leveret” means young hare, three of which can be found dancing on the bottle’s label. The ears of the hares connect creating a triangular symbol that was used by the tin merchants of Devon, traders on the Silk Road.
With it’s own sense of history, and coming from an up-standing family we’re excited to present a premium and reserve option for the Leveret brand.

A complex nose, featuring ripe dark berries, blackcurrant, violets, lavender and subtle herbal nots. On the palate it offers juicy black fruit, black pepper, smoked meats, dark chocolate and fig flavours. The wine has a velvety texture with a satisfying finish of lingering black cherry and vanilla notes from oak aging.

    Vineyards and Winemaking

The grapes were harvested from the Tantallon vineyard and transported to our Riverview winery where they were crushed to open topped stainless steel fermentation vessels and inoculated with Enoferm Syrah yeast strain. The ferments were pumped over several times per day until dry and then allowed from 2 to 5 days extended maceration. The wine was then pressed off the skins and put to barrel where it was aged for 16 months. The wine was then transported by road tanker to our Katikati winery for final blending and finishing. Bottling was in August 2023.
