Wine Review

Ripe, fruity, varietal and inviting bouquet of dark plums and blackberries, clove and smoky wood. Dry and quite appealing on the palate with flavours of fresh and roasted plums, dark berries and wood spices, some wood smoke and baking spice highlights. Tannins are s ripe and textured, acidity delivers further texture and freshness, there’s a leesy mushroom quality offering breadth and further complexity. Balanced, well made with decent length and persistence. Ready to drink from 2024 through 2029.

Vineyards and Winemaking

The grapes for this beautifully crafted blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon were selected from our superior Bridge Pa vineyard with a mix of alluvial and clay soils.
The 2021 growing season experienced a coolish spring followed by a long dry summer. These conditions proved perfect for ripening and, without the pressure of rainfall, harvesting was able to be done when the fruit was in its premium condition. The Merlot was harvested from 23rd-26th March, with the Cabernet on the 12th of April.
Each parcel was individually fermented in stainless steel tanks for enhanced colour and flavour extraction with specifically selected yeasts. After an extended 10 days skin contact post ferment the batches were aged in 25% new French oak. The final blend was composed on the 27th of April - 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bottling took place on the 24th of November 2023, under screwcap closure.
