Wine Review

Medium-bodied syrah from an excellent vintage. Vibrant plum, dark chocolate, black pepper, floral/violet and subtle oak flavours. Excellent entry level that punched above its weight in this outstanding vintage."

Vineyards and Winemaking

This delightful Estate Syrah was sourced from a specially selected rows in our prestigious Bridge Pa vineyard in the Hawke's Bay. The alluvial soils allow free draining and fruit concentration. The 2020 growing season experienced a very long hot dry summer and early autumn, with consistent temperatures, which led to harvesting clean fruit at optimum ripeness on the 13th and 14h April 2020.

After a brief cold soak to extract important colour and flavour components, the must was fermented in closed-top stainless steel vats with selected varietal yeasts. After 28 days on skins, the wine was sent to barrel for sixteen months aging in a selection of new (25%) and seasoned French oak. After a final blending of the all the components, the wine underwent a light fining, and filtration before bottling on 17th June, 2022
