Densely coloured and richly aromatic, this delicious, fortified wine has been crafted from a selection of our best Hawke's Bay grapes.
Luscious raisin, black forest fruit, Christmas cake and date flavours abound, laced with spicy black pepper and chocolate notes. The palate is luxurious and silky smooth, with beautiful balance and harmony, and a satisfyingly warm long finish.
Already highly enjoyable, it will continue to mature, acquiring ever-greater mellowness and complexity.

Smooth and creamy textures lead to a palate full of dark berry and chocolate flavours. There’s blackberry and coconut, boysenberry and baking spices, clove and milk chocolates, leather and cinnamon. Off-dry with a natural sweetness, plenty of alcohol for heat and texture. A delicious wine ready for cheeses and desserts. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030+.

The fruit was select harvested on 8th and 12th April 2021 at 22 Brix.
On arrival at the winery, it was immediately destemmed and gently crushed, then allowed to cold soak for 3 days to enhance colour and flavour extraction. Fermentation was initiated, and a portion of the ensuing wine was run-off mid-ferment when the desired residual sugar level was reached. It was then fortified in the traditional manner with natural spirit to halt the fermentation, thereby retaining much of the natural fruit sweetness, before being transferred to seasoned French oak barrels for 30 months. The matured wine came out of barrel on the 6th of November 2023. The wine is un-fined and unfiltered to preserve the enhanced flavours and retain the delicate nuances derived for oak maturity.
